Reflection on Roll of Thunder Project

Come to Life
Very...interesting. It would be nice if they could talk louder and not walk around the room =.=

Who or What?
Er...mine was...a bit obvious wasn't it? It's pretty hard to make the project really hard to guess though...Oh well, at least they had to listen to 10 clues before they could guess what the event was.

Ophelia's was also pretty obvious. *highfive* Next time, remember to bring your sheet okay? ;)

Interview
Good job. It seemed pretty practical. Yeah.

Into the Future
Michelle's was very...realistic. Awesome. Good job.

Lindsey's was also really good, the ending was very very happy. Very happy.

Reflection on Myth Presentation

Well, obviously, I didn't really like my topic, because it was a story I've NEVER heard of, much less than reading it.

But um, I was a bit freaked out when I read that the Green Knight carried around his head like a lantern after Sir Gawain chopped his head off.

Interesting.

Personally, I thought we presented quite well. I mean, everything went quite well even though we forgot EVERYTHING from the story because it was such a long time ago.

And the best presentation I saw...would probably be Jessie and Cici's. By a very small margin...honestly, I think we all did relatively well.

Alan and Darren's group had a nice amount of information. Lindsey and Ophelia's group explained the story well. And Jeremy and Wayne's group had memorized the story well.

Good job, my people.

Life can be nice when both people contribute equally to the presentation.

What is a Winner?

I define a winner as a person who earned himself/herself a medal, trophy, award, honor, etc.

BUT he/she has to earn it by his/her own efforts, instead of using shortcuts or cheating.

A winner is a person who earned a privilege, but he/she truly deserves it. For someone to truly deserve the award they get, they have to have actually put in the effort and time to win it.

Say that a guy named....Bill is partners with another guy named Bob. If Bill had put in all his effort to prepare their science fair project, but Bob hasn't moved a muscle to try to help, even if they DO win, Bill would be the only one who is truly a winner, because he was the one who tried and actually made the project, so technically, the award is given to HIS project, not theirs. And also, he is the one who's actually learning in the process. So he is truly considered a winner.

So. What was the lesson today?

Bill is superior to Bob.

Is There a Job you were Born to Do?

I don't really know...I mean, how are you supposed to know what you were meant to be born to this Earth, until you see your future???

I mean, if I really had to answer this, I would say "a student".

Every child's destiny is to go to school, whether it's a good or a bad school. You HAVE to get an education in order to fight for your future. Unless you want to be a garbage man or something.

But, until I grow up, I won't really know what job I am DESTINED to do. I'm probably not going to be a queen, a president, or even and Olympic player. But what I DO know is, that every job there is, is possible for me to do and accomplish.

So....I DO think there is a job that I was given to when I was born, I just haven't figured out exactly what that is.

But we'll see....

What are you Willing to Fight for?

Of course you would fight for what you want, but sometimes, obstacles come in the way, and you wonder if what you want is really worth fighting for.

So how do you tell if something is worth fighting for? Are you willing to take the chance and consequences?

Before fighting for something, you have to overcome the feeling of despair. There will be people (or other obstacles) who will try to discourage you, try to make you feel insecure, and want to give up. But what makes a person brave, is to gain the courage to resist all doubts in you.

Hey, this is life...you got to go through SOME pain (or more) to get what you want right?

And how much are you willing to fight for it? That you have to ask yourself. Why do you want it? Does it really mean that much to you? This is also one of the difficulties. But only you can figure it out; the only thing that is keeping you from doing something, is yourself. You choose whether to let the obstacles beat you, you choose to give up or not.

What are you willing to fight for? Ask yourself that. If it's something that you really want, fight for it. If you gave up on it, then it's probably not something that means the world to you and worth your suffering.

Do You Think Before You Act?

It really does depend on a person's attitude and personality.

If he/she were a careful person, he/she most likely would think before he/she does anything.

But if it were a very careless and disorganized person, he/she would randomly make choices and decisions before he/she even thinks. We call these people 'reckless'.

For me, I'm a mix between these two, but if I have the time, I try to think of what COULD happen after I do something. Because not thinking about the consequences beforehand, can really mess you up.

For example, if I had to choose between studying for a test that is the day after, I would probably study because I want good grades. THAT is a decision that I would think beforehand. But if I were playing a basketball match with someone, I wouldn't really have time to make decisions. I would just skip the thinking, and go straight forward....to do the best I can to win :)

Passing quick judgements can be tough, especially to those who are extra EXTRA careful. Which can be bad, but also good.

Reckless people--on the other hand--can really mess up sometimes because they didn't think clearly. But sometimes, you just have to go with the flow and hope for the best. Because you don't ALWAYS have the time to make judgements.

If you were engaging with a murderer, who was holding a knife. Of course you can't think too long, because you might get killed before you do anything =.=

BUT, if you didn't make a good decision on what you were going to do, you'll probably get killed as well. Because if the murderer was holding a knife, and you barge towards him all willy-nilly...without a weapon. Yeah. You'll die.

In a nutshell, it's probably a good idea to balance both factors =.=

How do the Seasons Affect You?

Spring: Well, I don't particularly like spring, because it rains way too much. Even though you usually associate spring with "reborn of life", I usually think of rain when I think of spring. Therefore, it doesn't put me in the best mood...because I'm not a big fan of cold, wet rainy days. And that is also why I like spring the least...

Summer: In Taiwan, only summer truly exists...It is HOT and HUMID. I mean like HOT, as in you can't go outside with a cami and shorts without sweating. EVER. At least in Taiwan's case. But summer usually makes me happy, because we get summer vacation :D
Therefore, I actually don't like summer itself, because it's too hot and humid. But I do like summer vacation.

Fall: This is my favorite season, surprisingly. I like how it's kind of cool and breezy, not as hot as Taiwan is, but not to a point where "so-freaking-cold-my-toes-are-going-to-fall-off". It puts me in a good mood; I actually associate it with "a new start, believe it or not. I know, doesn't make any sense, because leaves and plants usually start to die off in this season. But school starts at this time too. So I associate it with "a brand new start".

Winter: Technically, winter doesn't really "exist" in Taiwan. But it does get colder...in a strange way...
Winter is usually associated with snow, and skiing and snowboarding, or even shoveling the driveway. But since Taiwan doesn't HAVE snow...I guess this isn't really a fair judgement. I really have no opinion on winter....But I don't really like the fact that my mom makes me wear huge coats that make me look like a giant purple teddy bear outside when it's like....17 degrees Celsius outside. Yes people, we consider this as "cold".

Whom Do You Feel Closest To?

Well, that's an easy question isn't it? Of course I'm closest to my family and friends.

Especially my mom and best friends, because I tell them almost everything. Of course, I don't tell some of them EVERYTHING, because some things are a bit to personal to share. But I tell them about everything about 90% of the time...

Heh heh.

Mind you, my mom is like my best friend.....and I have four BFFs.....so yeah....some know somethings, while others don't.....but I'm very close to everyone of them...

But that doesn't mean that I'm not close to my regular friends or classmates, it just means I'm not as close to them as my mom or BFFs......I'm kind of a....hyperactive person, so I pretty much tell everything to everyone...some people know more about me than others because they've known me for longer, but yeah....I'm generally close to every friend I have....

Well....I count close friends as classmates, BFFs as the four people, and my mom slightly more than my dad because I feel like he doesn't really listen to me from time to time *ahem*

Don't worry people, it's not like I'm trying to separate people....I'm just closer to some people more than others.

Oh and as for the three poems: Scaffolding, The World is Not a Pleasant Place to be, and Annabel Lee....the first and third poem show the strong relationship between two lovers. In the second poem, it's slightly different. It states "the world is not a pleasant place to be without someone to hold on to you"...it's generally the same idea, but in a different way of expressing it. People are closest to the ones they love...

So........PEACE OUT :P

What is Honor?

Honor can mean a lot of things, but honor is only given to a person who truly deserves it....

It can mean high respect, you would honor a person for their bravery in battle....you would honor a student for getting the highest grades in school. High respect is given to those who have given in their effort, whether they succeeded or not.

Honor can be given to a soldier who died in battle, even if they lost the war. If he had tried to fight, instead of fleeing without integrity.....he deserves to be honored.

Honor can also mean privilege....you deserve honor if you had done your best, even if you did not succeed or if you HAD succeeded. You could have the honor to be crowned as king, assuming that you are ready to take control......while also being a person with integrity and not misusing your powers...

Privileges and high respect are only given to those who truly deserve it. They could be given to a student who gained most votes in a Science Fair project, or a soldier who died in the Vietnam War.....

Honor is what people get when they do something worth remembering, while also doing it with integrity.......

A noble sacrifice for a good cause deserves honor; effort being put in deserves honor......

For example, in "The Highwayman", Bess and Tim sacrifice their lives for each other....their causes are equally honorable. And in "The Charge of the Light Bridgade", the soldiers did not flee from fear. Even though they were defeated, they did not die for nothing.....they deserve honor from their bravery in battle.....

Why Do We Need Memorials?

Of course we need them for honoring the people, places, animals, etc.

For example, if someone important to you dies, you would want to place something to remember him by.....also to let others know their story....

Memorials are important, for example, the Vietnam War Memorial......it was built to honor those who died in the Vietnam War for their courageous deeds.

To remember the people, building a memorial is very helpful.....especially if you want to pass their story onwards.

You don't necessarily have to be important to the society to have a memorial, as long as you are important and worth remembering to a person.

And you don't have to be rich to afford a memorial, you can easily build a shrine full of important items for the person.....a memorial doesn't have to grand, it's about the person and your gratitude to the person.

Are All Things Connected?

Yes...of course.....

A bug and a snowflake have something in common....a bug has six legs, while a snowflake has 6 sides....

It just depends on how you look at things, and your perspective of objects in life.

Michelle and I have something in common as well....we both go to the same school, have black hair, brown eyes, both wear Converse, and are both incredibly immature :)

I do believe that all things are connected and have similarities, it really depends on how you think of it.

A frog and a fly may not have much in common, but a frog eats a fly....

All things are connected in a way.....life is weird......

I-pods and disco balls look nothing alike, but they both have glass on them.......and light is reflected on them.....

It depends on your imagination and creativity, on how you view things :)

Reflection of 1st Semester in 7th Grade

90% of what was really interesting in the 1st semester was between friends and stuff.....and it's kind of personal, so I'm not going to talk about this.....

The other 10% I will be talking about is about the "school" and stuff....

Mind you, this only applies for my English class....

I think I manage it pretty well....because I turned in most of my homework....but I do have to have more time management.....and this applies to all of my classes....

Our last test was a bit.....biased though.....here are the two most biased ones:

1. Why was Jack nice to Ernie? (from the story "A Crush")
A: Because Jack is a very generous person.

Ok, what is the problem here?

It's pretty obvious isn't it?

2. The wire was taut. (pick the closest meaning)
a. thick
b. tight
c. sharp
d. shiny

You may ask, what is the problem with this question?

Here's the problem.....WE DIDN'T HAVE TAUT IN OUR VOCABULARY LIST.

And I totally blew the vocabulary-sentence quiz, what you had to do it make a sentence for each of the 10 words.....and technically, my sentences were all grammatically correct...but I had 3 points deducted because I spelled 3 of the vocabulary words wrong.....how sad is that.....

I'll....try to improve my mistakes.....understand what tests are looking for as answers.......be more responsible at time management......write homework faster so I can do other stuff such as studying and reading.....and watch more Rainbow Bunchie :)

Can Where You Are Change Who You Are?

Of course, if I were to suddenly go to the U.S, my personality would not change, but my actions might.

What do I mean?

Since I'll be interacting with different people, eating different foods, and going to different places....

Because the U.S has people who are more open, I would probably be more open too, if you know what I mean......and I might, no offense, be more.......American if you know what I mean =.=

And if you were to live in Alaska, when you were living in.....Thailand, then you would certainly change your clothing styles and way of life......climate can effect you greatly....

If you were to move to another country, your clothing style, way of life, hobbies, and maybe actions would change......but your personality and your likings might still be the same......

Homeless People

I really feel sorry for those people on there: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7389750n

But I'm really curious....why are there so many homeless in Florida?

I mean, like....where are all of their families and stuff.....

But I still feel bad for them because they deserve a home to live in.....everyone should deserve a house, the thing is, there are many people who are FREAKISHLY rich, but there are some who are really really poor....so poor that on most days, they don't get even one meal....

The world's finance is extremely unbalanced......

But I mean, even if you don't have money, you'll still have your family to support you right?

Well, these people don't....some of them live alone on the streets.....

I wish the homeless luck.
